Instructions
  1. Cream together butter and shortening.
  2. Gradually add sugars, creaming thoroughly.
  3. Beat in eggs and vanilla.
  4. 4, In separate bowl, combine flour, soda and salt.
  5. Blend dry mixture into wet.
  6. Stir in nuts and chocolate chips.
  7. Chill dough in fridge for 5 minutes.
  8. Drop batter by spoonfulls onto lightly greased baking sheets.
  9. With your hands, flatten cookies slightly and neaten edges to give even 1/2 inch thickness.
  10. Bake at 375 degrees F for 8 to 9 minutes, or until cookies are golden brown around the edges and still slightly underbaked in centre.
  11. Remove from oven and let stand on baking sheet for another 5 minutes.
  12. Remove to racks to cool completely.
