Ingredients

Instructions
  1. Cream together: shortening, butter and sugar.
  2. Add egg and molasses.
  3. Combine dry ingredients, then add to wet.
  4. Form heaping tablespoons-full of dough into small balls, smaller than a golf ball. Roll balls in white sugar.
  5. Place balls 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets. Do not flatten.
  6. Bake at 375 F for 8-10 minutes, or until tops are crackled and lightly browned. Do NOT overbake. Cookies should still be slightly soft when removed from oven.
  7. Let cookies cool for 10 minutes on the cookie sheet before removing them to a cooling rack.
